The third volume of The Zoroastrian Tradition in the Islamic Period, devoted to the study of the Rivāyat of Farrōbay Srōš, has been published by Dr. Hamid Reza Dalvand.
The Zoroastrian tradition, particularly in the Islamic era, continued to exist and manifest itself in the framework of the Yazdgerdi calendar. This calendrical system, which is a continuation of the ancient Iranian calendar system, persisted for centuries in both Zoroastrian and Islamic societies and underwent various historical changes and developments.
Understanding these transformations can help us better comprehend the chronology of historical events and the evolution of the Zoroastrian written tradition.
One of the short yet significant texts among the Zoroastrian Rivayats, especially in the first question of the initial section, is the Rivayat of Farrōbay Srōš. This text serves as a unique document in the history of the Zoroastrian religion, as it refers to the reform of the Yazdgerdi calendar in the year 375 Yazdgerdi. For this reason, the mentioned text was chosen for study, critical edition, translation, and commentary. The result of this work is the present volume.
