The Department of History at Georgetown University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the history of the Persianate World, spanning from the Muslim conquest to the present. The position, starting in August 2026, offers a teaching load of two courses per semester at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
In the first year, the successful candidate will also hold the title of Provost’s Distinguished Faculty Fellow, allowing for a dedicated focus on research with mentorship from senior faculty, without teaching or service responsibilities.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in History before the appointment and demonstrate strong potential in both research and teaching. Required application materials include a cover letter, CV, writing sample, and three letters of reference.
The application deadline is October 30, 2025. The projected salary ranges from $103,678 to $115,281, based on qualifications and experience.
