The Third National Conference of “The Persian World in Sasanian and Post-Sasanian Period” , October 12, 2025.
The Third National Conference of the “Persian World in Sasanian and Post-Sasanian Period” will be held on October 12, 2025 (20 Mehr 1404) in Tehran, organized by the Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies in cooperation with the Tissafernes Archaeological Research Group, the Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism, and Gonabad University.
The conference will feature presentations by twenty-four Scholars of Iranian Studies, archaeologists, linguists, and historians, and will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. across two halls of the Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies.
At the opening session, speeches will be delivered by Dr. Siros Nasrollahzadeh, Head of the Linguistics Research Department of the Institute for Humanities; Dr. Mohammad-Ebrahim Zarei, Head of the Research Institute of Cultural Heritage; Dr. Shahin Ariamanesh, Scientific Secretary of the Conference; Dr. Yaser Esmailian, President of Gonabad University; Dr. Yaghoub Mohammadi-Far; and Dr. Roozbeh Zarrinkoub.
From 10:30 a.m., three specialized panels will be held in the “Tamadon” and “Adab” halls.
The Tamadon Hall sessions will address topics such as Iran-China relations during the Parthian and Sasanian periods, lost fire temples, urban architecture of Sasanian Siraf, the state of Media on the eve of the Arab invasions, fortifications in the Persian Gulf, judicial officials in the Mādayān ī Hazār Dādestān, and Middle Persian loanwords in the Babylonian Talmud.
The Adab Hall sessions will cover themes including the evolution of worldviews in late antiquity, the phenomenology of the transformation of fire temples into mosques, patterns of negation in Middle Persian, Iranian Studies through the lens of Henry Corbin, Sasanian remains in Qorveh, the influence of Sasanian painting on Afghan murals, and political thought in the Sasanian era, focusing on the Testament of Ardashir and the Letter of Tansar.
The conference will conclude with the final statement, delivered by Dr. Houshang Rostami, Scientific Secretary of the Conference. In addition to attending in person, interested participants can also join the conference online through the links provided below:
