Tenth International Conference on Iranian Linguistics (ICIL 10), 13-15 January 2025

The Tenth International Conference on Iranian Linguistics (ICIL) will gather linguists and philologists with diverse theoretical perspectives to participate in the prestigious event. Dedicated to fostering collaboration and advancing research on Iranian languages, ICIL features plenary sessions exclusively, enabling attendees to benefit from all presentations. Out of the numerous abstracts submitted annually, only approximately 35 papers and 10 posters are selected, reflecting the conference’s rigorous standards.

The conference is scheduled from 13 to 15 January 2025 at the Santa Maria in Gradi complex, University of Tuscia, in Viterbo, Italy. While the event is primarily in-person, an exceptional provision for online participation is available for those unable to secure visas.

Esteemed Keynote Speakers are Professor Jila Ghomeshi from University of Manitoba and Professor Marco Mancini from the Sapienza University.

The accepted papers at ICIL 2025 highlight diverse research on Iranian languages, spanning syntax, phonology, historical linguistics, and sociolinguistics. Topics include temporal complementizers in Kurdish, gender and specificity in Bartangi, semantic organization in Balochi lexicography, and Avestan constructions. Historical studies examine Khotanese and Sanskrit texts, Old Khotanese phonetics, and Avestan participles, while sociolinguistic work explores the Gilan language area and Gilaki isoglosses. The presentations showcase a rich blend of theoretical and applied linguistic insights.

The event promises to provide a platform for robust discussions and insights into the intricate world of Iranian languages. For further details and a complete list of abstracts, visit the official conference website:
