Noruz Cultural and Artistic Center will host a lecture in Persian by Professor Donald Stilo on “Modern Iranian Languages and Dialects” on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 6:15 PM local time, at the Sufi Center. Professor Stilo will also present the same topic in English on a different day. The October 10 lecture announced here will be delivered in Persian.
Noruz Cultural and Artistic Center was established in 2018 in The Hague, the Netherlands, through the initiative of Dr. Sima Zolfaghari. Dr. Zolfaghari holds degrees in English Language and Literature from Shahid Beheshti University, General Linguistics from Allameh Tabataba’i University, Ancient Cultures and Languages from the University of Tehran, and Anthropological Linguistics from Leiden University. Her academic and cultural work in the fields of language, culture, and Iranian heritage provided the foundation for establishing this center with the aim of creating a connection between academic research and the wider community.
The name “Noruz” reflects the breadth, diversity, and vitality of the Iranian cultural world — a heritage that throughout history has encompassed a wide range of languages, traditions, arts, and cultural practices.
The primary mission of Noruz Cultural and Artistic Center is to build a bridge between academia and society by making scholarly knowledge and research on Iran accessible to the public, beyond political perspectives and preconceived notions. The center seeks to foster a deeper understanding of different aspects of Iranian culture through a scholarly and cultural approach, while encouraging dialogue among researchers, scholars, artists, and cultural enthusiasts.
Noruz organizes in-person and online courses on ancient, Middle, and modern Iranian languages, with a particular focus on Persian, as well as lectures, academic discussions, workshops, and cultural and artistic programs exploring various aspects of Iran’s heritage. By inviting researchers, scholars, and artists, the center creates a space for the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and experiences between academia and the broader community.
