Volume 32 (2024–2025) of the Bulletin of the Asia Institute has been published. Newly available since Summer 2026, this volume marks the beginning of a new phase in the history of the journal, with its publication continuing under the Yarshater Center for the Study of Iranian Literary Traditions at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Spearheaded by Carol Altman Bromberg since the 1980s, the Bulletin of the Asia Institute has served for almost a century as an important journal for Iranian, Near Eastern, and Central Asian studies. Publication of the journal has now been entrusted to the Yarshater Center, whose Director, M. Rahim Shayegan, Jahangir and Eleanor Amuzegar Professor of Iranian at UCLA, is serving as the Bulletin’s new editor.
The Yarshater Center will oversee the publication of the journal, while University of California Press will provide the infrastructure for its production and distribution, including the print volumes and back catalogue. Information concerning Volume 33 and subsequent volumes will be announced by the Yarshater Center and University of California Press in due course.
The Yarshater Center has also reaffirmed its commitment to the free dissemination of scholarly research. Accordingly, the Bulletin of the Asia Institute will be published simultaneously in a high-quality print format and as a free Open Access publication, with the digital volumes available for download through the websites of the Yarshater Center and University of California Press. The journal’s back catalogue will also be made available through an Open Access repository.
